Current work in progress – The Footman

I am currently editing my WIP (work in progress). It’s been colloquially known as The Footman since I started writing it a couple of years ago. It’s a romantasy (that’s a cross between romance and fantasy) and is set on the South Coast of the UK. It’s for young adults – the upper age range, and I am slowly getting myself ready to talk about it publicly. I keep meaning to write a blog about the process of editing etc . . . . maybe one day soon!

The Ten Rules of Skimming

My first novel – The Ten Rules of Skimming – was published in 2012. It was a huge and spectacular flop. But, in the process of working with a publisher I learnt so much about my writing and editing processes. I will write a bit about that one day soon.

It came out as a semi-graphic novel, with sequential illustrations appearing in the text. I worked with a lovely illustrator, Jess Swainson, on the project and ended up touring lots of schools and teaching day workshops about writing (which earnt me far more money Than the book ever did!). I have yet to go back and read it, over a decade later.
