What’s How Edie Wasted Her Summer (with a footman) about?

This is the opening of my recent cover letter (version 8.2 million). I struggle to talk about my work – many authors are the same.

What happens when wishes come true – 220 years after they were made? Especially when a breeches-bedecked-footman appears in your house, and he’s as hot as peppercorns, and you suspect your mum’s after him, and your gran definitely is and you’ve sworn off boys/men, after what Ricky did . . . but, oh, the breeches, the boots, the breeches.

How Edie Wasted Her Summer is a story of when a girl falls in love with someone else’s wish come true. It’s set in small-town contemporary Britain, and is an irreverent twisted-in-time, fantasy romance for upper YA, offering an inversion of love’s first kiss (circa 80,000 words).

I’ll keep working on it!
